Minimum Wage Increases 2014

phh insuranceAs of December 1, 2013, 14 states have already announced an increase in their minimum wage rate effective January, 2014. These states are: New York, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington and California. The minimum wage rate increase in these states will require affected employers to pay a minimum wage rate higher than what is required by federal law. Employers in these states should review their employees’ wage payment rates and update their minimum wage poster requirements as necessary to ensure their compliance with state regulations.

The following is a list of minimum wage rates for each state for 2014 announced, to date:

Alabama: $7.25
Alaska: $7.75
Arizona: $7.90
Arkansas: $7.25
California: $8.00 (increase to $9.00 on July 1, 2014 and $10.00 on January 1, 2016)

Colorado: $8.00
Connecticut: $8.70 ($9.00 effective January 1, 2015)
Delaware: $7.25
Florida: $7.93

Kentucky: $7.25
Louisiana: $7.25
