It’s Friday. Our favorite day of the week, knowing this is the last full work day of the week. So we’ll keep it on the light side today. We found some fun and interesting facts about October that you may not have known.
National Arts & Humanities – Established in 1993 to encourage Americans to engage and explore the facets of the arts and humanities and other cultures. So take some time this October and go explore the various Arts & Humanities in your community. Our community holds an Arts on Main event every 2nd Friday of the month, which happens to be this evening. If you are in the area be sure to check it out. Main Street will be full of Art and Live Music for the evening. It’s also Arts & Crafts Month, another great reason to support your local arts.
National Chili Month- Why not celebrate chili month? It’s a great food and Fall is the perfect time of year to have a nice warm bowl of chili. For some great chili recipes check out www.famouschilirecipies.com
National Popcorn Poppin’ Month- Who knew we had such a celebration. Popping Popcorn became an official holiday in 1999 when it was declared so by then Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman.
Adopt A Shelter Dog Month- This is a great celebration in my opinion. According to ASPCA, at least 12 million dogs to shelters each year. Why not give a shelter dog a new home this month. Always remember that being a dog owner is a big responsibility, so make sure you have the room, time, and energy and love to give to a dog before deciding to adopt.
And of course let’s not forget, Halloween is October 31st. This is one of my favorite holidays. So get those costumes ready and find a fun, safe neighborhood to enjoy Trick or Treat with your children.
